Director of Quality Systems
About the Role
Stratasys is leading the global shift to additive manufacturing with innovative 3D printing solutions for industries such as aerospace, automotive, consumer products, and healthcare. The Quality Systems Director will oversee and advance Stratasys Director Manufacturing to Best in Class, emphasizing standardizing processes and aligning inspection methods to meet customer requirements without sacrificing efficiency. This role involves educating internal and external customers to understand and set appropriate requirements for additive manufacturing products, balancing cost control with creative quality integration throughout the entire process flow.
Responsibilities
- Manage quality assurance operations relative to all manufacturing departments and sites.
- Ensure Quality Goals are maintained, and team progress on achieving Quality KPIs is evident.
- Keep Senior Management aware of significant quality trends or concerns.
- Oversee 3rd party registrar audits for all manufacturing sites; ensure audit findings are addressed promptly and corrective actions are effective.
- Train responsible employees on corrective action techniques, root cause processes, and related methodologies.
- Oversee internal audits and audit schedules for all SDM sites to verify adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Enforce company quality standards with a focus on customer requirements, satisfaction, product accuracy, appearance, and on-time deliveries.
- Assist manufacturing departments in implementing and maintaining quality systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Audit and recommend course corrections for receiving/inspection in relation to the QMS.
- Maintain the Material Review Board (MRB) and report status to department managers.
- Serve as Management Representative, ensuring quality management processes are established, maintained, and reported to top management while promoting customer requirements awareness.
- Manage department employees with a focus on fairness, effective use and development, motivation, policy enforcement, attendance, accident prevention, and turnover.
- Lead Corrective Action Monthly Meetings with department managers to mitigate problems and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Project and respond to staffing requirements, emphasizing an audit-focused approach to inspection during manufacturing by operations.
- Interact with customers during visits to promote SDM’s commitment to the QMS and manage their expectations.
- Work with Purchasing staff to ensure flow-down of customer requirements, develop systems for tracking supplier performance, and facilitate the corrective action process.
- Manage supplier approvals and performance tracking.
- Create reports for company quality metrics, drilling down by department and cause to drive corrective action.
- Manage the company’s test and inspection resources.
- Control department costs through productivity optimization, process improvements, and automation.
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve company business goals.
- Participate in and influence ASTM standards for additive manufacturing relating to quality and inspection standards.
Requirements
- Must be Export Control Compliant (ITAR).
- Minimum ten years of combined experience in quality control, management, and manufacturing operations.
- In-depth knowledge of quality control for manufacturing, ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems, and statistical process control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in scaling quality systems and processes with minimal staffing increases.
- Superior understanding of SDM products and services and the rapid prototyping industry.
- Ability to influence others, particularly company management and external stakeholders, regarding quality expectations for Additive Manufacturing at the national level.
