About the role

The Maryland Board of Nursing is seeking a Director of Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement to lead initiatives that enhance regulatory excellence and operational efficiency. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the Board’s quality assurance framework and driving continuous performance improvement across programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program for the Board of Nursing.
  • Monitor and evaluate regulatory compliance, licensure standards, and disciplinary actions to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead data-driven performance analyses to assess program effectiveness and recommend evidence-based enhancements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate quality metrics into daily operations and strategic planning.
  • Ensure alignment with state and federal regulatory requirements, including those from the Maryland Department of Health and national accrediting bodies.
  • Prepare and present performance reports to leadership and governing bodies to support transparency and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by training staff on QAPI principles and tools.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that support quality assurance goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Active, unencumbered Maryland RN license.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in nursing regulation, quality assurance, or healthcare administration.
  • Demonstrated leadership in implementing performance improvement initiatives in a regulatory or healthcare setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data interpretation and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulatory environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $71,805.00 – $92,894.00 per year, with potential growth to $113,243.00 per year.
  • Full-time position with comprehensive benefits package.
