Position Overview
The Director of Programs serves as a key organizational leader responsible for overseeing program operations, supporting department leadership, and driving cross-functional collaboration across a large, community-focused nonprofit organization. This individual partners closely with executive leadership to strengthen organizational effectiveness, build strong teams, and support programs that create meaningful impact throughout the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, oversight, and support across multiple programs, departments, and service lines while advancing organizational priorities and strategic initiatives
- Supervise, coach, and mentor department leaders while supporting goal setting, performance management, and professional development initiatives
- Partner with executive leadership to improve operational effectiveness, reporting systems, performance metrics, and organizational processes
- Support organizational culture initiatives, staff engagement efforts, operational policies, and cross-functional collaboration initiatives
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, funders, stakeholders, and leadership groups while supporting external engagement activities
- Support board operations, fundraising initiatives, advocacy priorities, and strategic organizational projects
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading programs, departments, teams, or service lines within nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
- Strong people leadership skills with experience coaching, mentoring, and developing managers and teams
- Experience managing organizational priorities, complex projects, operational processes, or performance measurement initiatives
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience utilizing systems such as CRM platforms, reporting tools, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar business applications
