About the Role
The Director of Product Management leads and scales the teams behind two critical domains: Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement. This role requires a seasoned product leader with deep expertise in loans, money movement, and fintech.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a high-performing PM team, setting the bar for craft, creating development paths, and cultivating a culture of ownership, rigor, and candor.
- Own the vision and strategy for Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement, defining multi-year product strategies for foundational loan systems and global money movement infrastructure.
- Be the domain authority, serving as the executive-level subject matter expert on loan lifecycle mechanics, payment rails, settlement flows, and institutional transfers.
- Drive cross-functional alignment at scale, partnering closely with Engineering, Accounting, Treasury, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance, and Client Success teams.
- Influence up and across the organization, regularly presenting strategy, tradeoffs, and priorities to senior leadership and shaping organizational thinking on investments and priorities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience, including 3–5 years managing and developing PM teams including people managers.
- Deep experience in loans or lending systems, understanding loan lifecycle mechanics, platform architecture for loan servicing, and compliance and operational requirements.
- Meaningful experience in money movement, payments infrastructure, or financial operations, fluent in payment rails, settlement flows, cross-border transfers, and reliability and accuracy standards.
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or banking, with familiarity in BNPL, platform products, or backend infrastructure, and capital markets background preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to set and execute long-term platform strategy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Strong technical fluency, comfortable diving into data models and API discussions with engineers and holding informed opinions.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted tools to accelerate work and raise the bar for the team.
- Track record of building and scaling distributed, high-performing PM teams across multiple domains simultaneously.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, aligning Legal, Finance, Engineering, and executive leadership around a common direction.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, telling crisp, data-driven stories to diverse audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits
Base pay ranges from $267,000 to $327,000 per year in the USA, depending on location and experience. Affirm offers a comprehensive benefits package including health care coverage, flexible spending wallets, time off, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
