Director of Product Management (100% Remote or Hybrid Brooklyn, NY)
The Mom Project is excited to partner with Etsy in their search for a Director of Product Management contractor to join their team for a 6-month contract.
About the Role
The Director will own and oversee three squads—Loyalty & Incentives, Occasions, and CRM—within the Buyer Experience group. The focus of this team is to deliver high-quality, compelling experiences that feel more rewarding, drive greater value, and bring buyers back more often. This role requires close partnership with Marketing, Relevance, and Seller-side teams, among other cross-functional stakeholders. The 6-month interim engagement covers a pivotal planning period ahead of Etsy’s 2027 strategy, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring teams deliver well-informed roadmaps aligned to longer-term outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Set vision, develop roadmaps, and deliver measurable business outcomes across complex, matrixed environments.
- Lead buyer retention and engagement initiatives, including hands-on ownership of loyalty programs, CRM strategy, lifecycle marketing, or incentives to improve retention, repeat purchase rate, or LTV at scale.
- Partner with applied ML and data science teams to translate model outputs into buyer-facing experiences, with familiarity in personalization, propensity modeling, or recommendation systems.
- Align cross-functional stakeholders (Marketing, Engineering, Design, Seller-side) around a shared strategy and present confidently to senior leadership and C-suite audiences.
- Own strategic planning in high-velocity periods, including annual and multi-year planning cycles, translating company-level OKRs into squad-level goals, and making resource prioritization tradeoffs under ambiguity.
- Navigate the tension between buyer engagement strategies and seller health in a two-sided or marketplace business model.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience, with 3-5 years at Director level or above leading multi-squad organizations in consumer-facing products.
- Deep domain expertise in buyer retention and engagement, with a track record of improving retention, repeat purchase rate, or LTV at meaningful scale.
- Experience leading data and ML-driven product development, comfortable partnering with applied ML and data science teams.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and executive communication skills.
- Strategic planning acumen, including ownership of annual and multi-year planning cycles.
- Experience operating in a two-sided or marketplace business model.
