Director of Philanthropy, Major Gifts

About the role

National Jewish Health, the nation's leading respiratory hospital and a pioneer in preventive and personalized medicine, is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to lead fundraising efforts throughout California.

Responsibilities

• Build, manage, and strategically grow a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects and donors.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic investments at the six- and seven-figure level.
• Expand National Jewish Health's visibility, relationships, and philanthropic footprint throughout California and the Los Angeles basin.
• Develop and execute creative fundraising strategies that consistently exceed ambitious revenue goals.
• Partner closely with physicians, researchers, senior leadership, volunteers, and development colleagues to maximize donor engagement and fundraising success.
• Serve as a trusted ambassador for National Jewish Health, communicating the organization's extraordinary impact in patient care, research, and education.
• Collaborate with a high-performing national development team while contributing to a culture of excellence, accountability, and shared success.

• Proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure major gifts.

• Passion for building a region, developing new donor relationships, and creating sustainable fundraising growth.
• Strategic thinker with strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
• Collaborative team player who values partnership and enjoys working across departments to achieve common goals.
• Experience managing a sophisticated donor portfolio and moving prospects through the full fundraising cycle.
