Job Summary
The Director Pharmacy – DFW Central oversees pharmacy operations at Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). This includes purchasing, storing, compounding, packaging, and dispensing drugs in BSWH pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and ambulatory care facilities. The role involves planning and directing pharmacy services programs and activities. These may include service efficiencies, process standardization, drug formulary design, drug utilization, vendor selection, cost evaluation, quality, productivity, performance standards, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuing education.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Directs pharmacy services for assigned areas of responsibility for BSWH.
- Recommends and implements pharmacy strategic and operational plans and priorities aligned to the overall business priorities of BSWH.
- Develops and implements pharmacy policies, procedures, processes, and service guidelines.
- Runs and reviews the order and purchase of pharmaceuticals as needed to maintain inventory levels and desirable turnover ratio.
- Inspects and monitors all drug areas in hospitals to ensure proper drug utilization and quality of drugs.
- Maintains departmental records and statistics and all records required by all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and maintains a formulary system to identify drugs in stock. Periodically reviews inventory to ensure medications are stored properly.
- Drives pharmacy operations and builds relationships with physicians, managers, patients, and vendors.
- Provides services, exchanges information, and orders supplies.
- Compounds and dispenses medication to fill written prescriptions and medication requests.
- Advises physicians and nursing staff about medications ensuring accurate and unbiased consultation concerning drugs and drug therapy.
Key Success Factors
- Pharm. D. required.
- MBA, MHA or advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in pharmacy operations or related area.
- Experience in a leadership role preferred.
- Current Texas licensure and registration as a pharmacist.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and associated pharmacy platforms (EPIC, Meditech, BD Pyxis).
- Experience leading pharmacy teams in a large integrated delivery network preferred.

- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Pharmacist (RPH)
