About the role
The Director of Perioperative Services oversees the staff, finances, and quality in surgical areas such as the Operating Room (OR), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Sterile Processing. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe patient care and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provides daily and strategic administrative oversight and service line leadership to patient care units.
- Manages budgets, supplies, equipment, scheduling, performance improvement, and staff development.
- Serves as a strong clinical and administrative leader, mentoring staff, supporting professional growth, and maintaining top clinical standards.
- Collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other department leaders.
- Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures.
- Utilizes efficient managerial skills and critical thinking to optimize expense control.
- Maintains positive staff morale and manages low turnover.
- Prioritizes projects and uses time management to maximize efficiencies.
- Engages in self-improvement and training activities for subordinates.
- Communicates with attending physicians and house staff to meet specific patient needs.
- Works collaboratively with Human Resources to handle administrative proceedings.
- Ensures adherence to organizational processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Three years of operating room nursing experience, including clinical skills and managerial/leadership functions.
- Current California RN License.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) Certification preferred.
- Current BLS Card.
- Current ACLS Card.
