Responsibilities
- Reviews and approves policies and procedures relating to qualifications and employment of nursing staff.
- Revises as needed.
- Formulates and interprets nursing policy and procedures.
- Serves as nursing representative in accreditation process.
- Collaborates with organizational policy and revises and corrects as needed.
- Devises formal communication systems and monitors effectiveness.
- Serves as nursing representative in hospital planning meetings.
- Establishes and implements nursing policy and procedures.
- Provides administrative supervision to the Medical Records, Laboratory, Performance Improvement, and Pharmacy departments.
- Ensures the continuous and timely availability of nursing services to people served.
- Establishes, develops, and maintains performance standards of care of people served.
- Designs and evaluates delivery systems.
- Ensures nursing care objectives are established and met.
- Responsible for ensuring quality nursing care throughout facility and initiates corrective action when needed.
- Serves as liaison between nursing and the medical staff.
- Serves as nursing representative in Administrative meetings.
- Receives and responds appropriately to reports and recommendations of other committees concerned with patient care.
- Chairs nursing leadership to conduct nursing service function and review, conducts monthly nursing leadership meetings.
- Encourages nursing personnel to participate in staff education programs.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an approved program; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state where the facility is located.
- Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
- Four (4) years of direct work experience with two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- Must possess competence in the performance of the following services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
- Must have the ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis, and be able to provide appropriate follow through treatment.
- Excellent communication and team building skills.
- Able to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
