Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves policies and procedures relating to qualifications and employment of nursing staff.
  • Revises as needed.
  • Formulates and interprets nursing policy and procedures.
  • Serves as nursing representative in accreditation process.
  • Collaborates with organizational policy and revises and corrects as needed.
  • Devises formal communication systems and monitors effectiveness.
  • Serves as nursing representative in hospital planning meetings.
  • Establishes and implements nursing policy and procedures.
  • Provides administrative supervision to the Medical Records, Laboratory, Performance Improvement, and Pharmacy departments.
  • Ensures the continuous and timely availability of nursing services to people served.
  • Establishes, develops, and maintains performance standards of care of people served.
  • Designs and evaluates delivery systems.
  • Ensures nursing care objectives are established and met.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality nursing care throughout facility and initiates corrective action when needed.
  • Serves as liaison between nursing and the medical staff.
  • Serves as nursing representative in Administrative meetings.
  • Receives and responds appropriately to reports and recommendations of other committees concerned with patient care.
  • Chairs nursing leadership to conduct nursing service function and review, conducts monthly nursing leadership meetings.
  • Encourages nursing personnel to participate in staff education programs.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an approved program; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state where the facility is located.
  • Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
  • Four (4) years of direct work experience with two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess competence in the performance of the following services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
  • Must have the ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis, and be able to provide appropriate follow through treatment.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills.
  • Able to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
