Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team and ensure the highest standards of resident care. The DON is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of nursing services, providing leadership and administrative oversight to all nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of all nursing services.
  • Ensure quality resident care through effective clinical programs and care delivery systems.
  • Oversee the RAI process, MDS completion, care planning, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage nursing staffing, scheduling, recruitment support, retention efforts, and employee development.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee infection prevention and control practices throughout the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate admissions, discharges, and transitions of care.
  • Promote medication safety, resident rights, confidentiality, and person-centered care.
  • Partner with the Administrator and department leaders to maintain operational efficiency and budget goals.
  • Ensure staff receive ongoing education, training, and competency validation.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Licensure & Education: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota required. Training in rehabilitation, gerontology, nursing administration, management, supervision, or psychiatric/geriatric nursing prior to or within 12 months of appointment as Director of Nursing Services.
  • Clinical Experience: Previous nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, transitional care, or long-term care setting preferred. Experience with ventilator management, IV therapy, wound care, and complex clinical services required. Strong knowledge of MDS, care planning, quality measures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Preferred Certification: Infection Preventionist Certification (IP-BC, LTC-CIP, or equivalent) preferred.
