About the role
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall quality clinical outcomes of the community, with priority on quality care, customer service, and employee relations. This role involves regulatory management, attracting and retaining top-performing team members, and supervising and career coaching existing staff. The DON ensures that safety, security, and patient wellness are prioritized, reflecting the facility’s values in every interaction.
Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the practices, philosophy, nursing objectives, and standards of the Nursing Department, revising them as necessary to ensure quality care.
- Ensure implementation of a patient/resident care planning process in compliance with patient/resident needs, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage all aspects of nursing care for the community, including supervision of the care-giving team.
- Act as a skilled communicator, director, and motivator, organizing and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Enrich the lives of residents and staff through leadership and dedication.
- Maintain knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures.
- Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing long-term care facilities.
- React appropriately to emergency situations when required.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Director of Nursing (DON) in long-term care, with a stable work history and commitment to leading a healthcare team.
- RN (Registered Nurse) licensure in the state of residency; BSN is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive employee and community relationships.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Excellent computer skills and willingness to learn new systems.
- Ability to adhere to all policies and procedures while staying current with federal, state, and local regulations.

Pay
The wage range for this role is USD $120,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 per year. This range accounts for factors such as skill sets, experience, education, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.
