Director of Nursing, Children's Services

Bancroft is hiring for a Director of Nursing position in Mount Laurel, NJ.

About the Role

This position promotes health maintenance for individuals served within specific programs. It manages, supports, and ensures the overall quality of nursing services within the Children’s Service and Education Departments. The role provides expertise in department operations, advocacy, and education to nursing staff, ensuring continued provision of quality healthcare to youth supported in these programs.

Responsibilities

• Directs and provides oversight to direct reports.
• Provides direction and supervision to nursing staff.
• Manages the ongoing job performance of direct reports; develops and communicates performance goals, completes performance evaluations within established timeframes; provides feedback, develops and takes action on performance improvement plans, and determines and implements disciplinary action as needed.
• Provides ongoing leadership, advice, training, and guidance to direct reports regarding overall nursing care, instruction, and safety of persons served, as outlined in the Individual Program Plan for each person served.
• Ensures proper staffing levels and work distribution for programs to provide high-quality care for all persons served.
• Conducts regular staff meetings and attends various management meetings to promote information flow, open discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Attends internal management meetings, external conferences, Interdisciplinary (IDT) and/or Trans-Disciplinary (TDT) meetings, and family conferences as needed.
• Appropriately delegates work responsibilities.
• Supports the professional development and career growth of direct reports by identifying and providing ongoing training and certification attainment in accordance with state licensing regulations and accreditation standards.
• Oversees operations of the professional nursing staff in accordance with regulations and guidelines defined by the Children's System of Care, N.J. Department of Health, N.J. Department of Education Administrative Code and Amendments, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Division of Youth Services (DYFS), Individual Program Plan (IPP), Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), and established Bancroft policies and procedures.
• Develops and implements departmental goals, objectives, performance standards, and outcome measures for nursing practice in collaboration with the Executive Director of Children’s Education and Healthcare Quality.
• Oversees the continued provision of nursing care and services to ensure the highest professional standards that best meet the current and changing healthcare needs of each individual.
• Monitors all direct costs incurred and the efficiency of spending for Health Care Services; ensures operations within the established fiscal budget.
• Meets regularly with Nurses to review budget-related areas (e.g., staffing, call-outs, purchases) and meets monthly with the Executive Director to review the budget.
• Revises Medical Policy & Procedures within areas of responsibility, conferring with program leadership as necessary.
• Serves as a resource of information regarding both routine and special healthcare needs to support a comprehensive care plan for each person.
• Facilitates a team approach to the continued provision of quality care through interaction, communication, collaboration, and oversight of licensed nursing staff.
• Acts as a conduit leader and liaison with discipline-specific clinical directors, managers, staff, Sr Director of Nursing, external case workers, state and federal regulatory agencies, family members, etc., to maintain quality care and assist in removing or modifying reported health-related barriers.
• Operates within personal license constraints in strict accordance with regulations and guidelines defined by the Nurse Practices Act in New Jersey and other applicable standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
• Current, valid New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of nursing management experience required.
• Prior clinical nursing experience required.

Pay

Salary range: $125,000–$139,000.
