Director of Network Infrastructure

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. Safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.

About the role

The IT Division is seeking a Director of Network Infrastructure and Security who will be responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and management of the organization’s network infrastructure with a primary focus on Cisco. This role oversees a team of 4 technical staff responsible for all local and wide area networks, routers, switches, carrier agreements, IP schemes, wireless networks, and firewall security. The position requires 24x7 support and coverage across all DOC operations and facilities in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, implement, and manage the organization’s network infrastructure with a focus on Cisco technologies.
• Oversee a team of technical staff responsible for local and wide area networks, routers, switches, carrier agreements, IP schemes, wireless networks, and firewall security.
• Provide 24x7 support and coverage for all DOC operations and facilities in New York City.
• Support, maintain, configure, and install Cisco network routers and switches in a large, distributed environment.
• Manage and configure Checkpoint Firewalls.
• Work with multicasting and IP video transmission.
• Support and configure virtual networks, including NSX.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities and projects.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the position; or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Five or more years of experience overseeing staff supporting, maintaining, configuring, and installing Cisco network routers and switches in a very large, distributed environment.
• Three or more years of individual experience supporting, maintaining, configuring, and installing Cisco network equipment.
• Knowledge and experience with multicasting and IP video transmission.
• Knowledge and experience supporting, maintaining, and configuring Checkpoint Firewalls.
• Knowledge and experience with virtual networks, NSX.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Cisco and Checkpoint Certifications required.

Pay

$150,000.00 – $160,000.00

New York City residency is not required for this position.
