Responsibilities
- Oversee and optimize operations and functionality of assigned sites while promoting safety, sanitation, and security through awareness programs, meetings, inspections, and preventative measures.
- Organize and analyze complex information and data.
- Develop strategic plans to advance GFL’s operational interests and support growth at dynamic sites.
- Establish credibility, influence stakeholders, and persuade professionals at all levels.
- Demonstrate strong cost center management with a track record of positive results.
- Understand regulations impacting sites and operations, complete reporting on time, and liaise with local officials as needed.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Oversee financial, human, and physical resources collaboratively in alignment with GFL’s vision, values, and annual Business Plan, with a focus on Profit & Loss activities.
- Provide direction and coordination for employees, including hiring, training, performance management, promotions, discipline, and recommendations for discharge.
- Guide GFL Operations staff on waste processing and disposal policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Oversee industrial waste processing and disposal operations across multiple sites to increase flexibility and reduce bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with the outside sales force.
- Manage and develop personnel with strong leadership skills.
- Support Site Operations Managers in preparing and overseeing tenders, quotations, and reports for operating, security, and maintenance works, including design, specifications, cost estimates, project management, and commissioning.
- Develop short- and long-term goals and procedures to maintain compliance in waste processing.
- Align individual performance goals and measures systematically to drive performance.
- Demonstrate a strong results orientation, work ethic, and emotional intelligence to adapt approaches as needed.
- Apply excellent analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills with solid business judgment and industry insight.
- Work efficiently independently and direct team members to complete larger projects.
- Commit necessary time and effort to complete work assignments with quality.
- Present ideas clearly and diplomatically, listen effectively, and manage time to meet customer needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in business or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years in an Operations Manager or Supervisor role.
- Supervisor training.
- First Aid training certificate.
- Experience and strong knowledge in operation of waste vehicles and company machinery.
- Strong knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and Safety Act.
- Proven record in managing waste processing site operations safely and efficiently.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and OMS.
