Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and vision for the school's music program, including long-term program development and student recruitment.
- Teach music courses, including vocal and/or instrumental music, and other courses aligned with experience and school needs.
- Direct and develop school ensembles, which may include choir, band, orchestra, and other performance groups.
- Plan, organize, and conduct concerts, performances, showcases, competitions, festivals, and special events.
- Develop and implement an engaging, project-based music curriculum that integrates with interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Foster a creative, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment that promotes artistic excellence and personal growth.
- Assess student learning, provide meaningful feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school initiatives, interdisciplinary projects, and community partnerships.
- Manage music program resources, equipment, music library, and performance inventory.
- Aid in budgeting, fundraising opportunities, and program planning to support continued growth.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and the community while promoting the school's music program.
- Prepare and lead student ensembles through the annual Music Performance Assessment (MPA) process.
- Stay current with best practices in music education, performance, instructional technology, and project-based learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in Music (or eligibility to obtain certification).
- Demonstrated experience directing school music ensembles and producing high-quality student performances.
- Strong conducting, instructional, and organizational skills.
- Experience with both vocal and instrumental music programs is preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
- Passion for fostering student creativity, confidence, and artistic excellence through music education.
