About the Role

Topgolf is a sports entertainment company that has changed how millions of people experience golf and where you can build a serious career. Our venues are high-energy, high-volume environments where performance matters and results are visible. We are looking for a Director of Instruction who can build and lead Topgolf's golf instruction platform at their venue, driving lesson volume, developing Lead Instructors, and creating programming that keeps guests coming back to grow their game.

The Director of Instruction leads all golf instruction programming at the venue, overseeing individual and group lessons, leagues, tournaments, player development series, and summer camps. This role is responsible for growing the instruction platform through exceptional teaching, community outreach, and partnership with the events team. The Director of Instruction also manages and develops Lead Instructors, oversees club fitting and equipment maintenance, manages the golf services budget, and leverages swing analysis technology and teaching aids to deliver best-in-class learning experiences.

As a leader of a high-energy, guest-facing venue, this role requires a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability to work extended hours during peak periods, special events, and high-volume seasons.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Golf Instruction
    • Coordinate, schedule, and deliver individual and group golf lessons for guests of all skill levels
    • Utilize swing analysis technology, launch monitors, and teaching aids in all instruction programs
    • Walk the tee line during peak times to market the instruction platform and offer impromptu lessons
    • Direct tournaments, leagues, summer camps, and player development series at the venue
  • Grow the Instruction Platform
    • Grow the golf instruction program through marketing, community outreach, and partnerships
    • Work with the events team to promote and integrate lessons into event programming
    • Supervise information requests related to lesson schedules and instructional series
    • Develop and implement player development series ideas that drive engagement and repeat visits
  • Manage and Develop Instructors
    • Manage and develop coaching and sales skills in Lead Instructors
    • Build a team of instructors who deliver consistent, high-quality guest experiences
    • Hold instructors accountable for lesson quality, scheduling, and guest satisfaction
  • Manage Operations and Budget
    • Manage club fitting, club repair, and general maintenance of golf equipment
    • Maintain inventory of golf services tools, technology, and teaching aids
    • Meet budgetary requirements for the golf services program

    • Grows lesson volume, programming participation, and golf services revenue consistently
    • Meets budgetary requirements for the golf services program and manages costs proactively
    • Drives the instruction team to achieve strong guest satisfaction and retention outcomes
    • Pursues new community relationships and marketing opportunities to expand the platform's reach

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience teaching golf lessons across multiple skill levels
  • PGA Membership; Class A Certification preferred
  • Experience managing an independent golf lesson program
  • Familiarity with swing analysis technology and launch monitor technology
  • Exceptional coaching ability and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be 21 years of age or older as required by state or local law

Physical Requirements

  • On Your Feet: Expect to stand and walk for extended periods, including up and down stairs and across the tee line
  • All Conditions: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Active Tasks: Constantly demonstrating, coaching, and moving across a large outdoor and indoor venue
  • Lift and Move Things: Handle equipment, clubs, and supplies throughout the shift
  • Endurance: Keep pace with a high-volume lesson and programming schedule while maintaining energy and enthusiasm

Pay

Base $60,000 + Commission
