Director of Member Relations, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
About the Role
You will oversee your campus's entire admissions process, ensuring families align with Alpha’s unique K-12 model. Students complete core academics in roughly two hours daily and dedicate the remainder to building practical skills, with performance data validating the approach. This is an on-site position at a single campus, in person every day, located in one of 12 markets: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT. Indicate your preferred market in your application.
Families pay a premium for the experience and conduct thorough due diligence, often posing challenging questions about academic rigor within the first ten minutes. The model functions only when enrolled families genuinely align with its purpose—even one misaligned family can disrupt the dynamic for everyone. You will be the primary point of contact for families from initial inquiry to the child’s first day, including delivering difficult decisions when a child would thrive better elsewhere.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the enrollment experience for every prospective family, from initial inquiry through onboarding, conducting a genuine needs assessment before presenting any offer.
- Manage 20 or more families concurrently, responding to every inquiry promptly and reviewing applications daily.
- Facilitate campus tours, open houses, information sessions, and shadow days that clearly communicate who the program serves—and who it does not.
- Make the admission or decline recommendation and personally deliver the decision to the family.
- Maintain HubSpot and the student information system (SIS) after each interaction, use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for preparation and summaries, and report pipeline status to leadership weekly.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Pursuing enrollment numbers at the expense of fit—a family who enrolls and exits is a worse outcome than a family declined upfront.
- Having your fit assessment overridden to preserve a relationship or achieve a yield goal.
- Following scripts, running call campaigns, or offering discount-driven closes.
- Transferring families through a chain of coordinators or awaiting committee approval for standard communications.
- Conducting amenity-focused tours that avoid difficult questions.
Requirements
- 3+ years in a client-facing position where an individual or family was the purchaser at $25,000+ per client or $2,000+ per month (direct B2C/D2C only; B2B and enterprise sales do not apply).
- Directly owned a client, admissions, or enrollment process from initial inquiry through the commitment decision.
- Simultaneously managed 7+ client relationships in a CRM, database, or tracking system.
- Advised a prospective client against purchasing, enrolling, or joining due to poor fit.
- Incorporated AI tools into a client-facing workflow.
- Communicate with clarity and professionalism in live interactions and written correspondence with executives, high-net-worth individuals, or other discerning clients.
- Personally conducted polished in-person tours, presentations, meetings, or hosted experiences for affluent families, senior executives, or high-profile guests.
- Developed multi-touch relationships spanning 30+ days and maintained engagement with families not yet ready to enroll.
- Owned a measurable enrollment, revenue, membership, or high-value customer-acquisition objective, including generating qualified demand and cultivating local referral or community partnerships.
- Currently reside in, or will relocate within 60 days to, an open campus market: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT.
- Willing to work on-site at your campus each day.
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Admissions or enrollment management background at a selective private, independent, or boarding school.
- Experience in luxury residential real estate, private banking, family office, concierge medicine, or high-end event planning, where families were your clients.
- Designed an enrollment process or service standards from the ground up rather than inheriting them.
- Existing relationships with affluent families, preschools, or family advisors in one of the 12 markets.
- Owner-operator experience where you personally sold, delivered, and retained high-value clients.
