Director of Membership, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
About the Role
Alpha is a private K–12 school network where students complete academics in roughly two hours per day and dedicate the remainder to developing real-world skills. This on-site position oversees one campus's admissions process from initial inquiry to the first day of school, ensuring families genuinely want what Alpha offers. You will manage 20+ active families concurrently, assess fit, and communicate decisions directly. The role is located in one of 12 markets: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT.
Responsibilities
- Own the enrollment experience for every prospective family, from initial inquiry through onboarding, conducting genuine needs assessments.
- Manage 20+ active families simultaneously, responding to inquiries promptly and reviewing applications daily.
- Conduct campus tours, open houses, information sessions, and shadow days to demonstrate fit.
- Develop admit or decline recommendations and communicate decisions directly to families.
- Maintain HubSpot and the student information system (SIS) after every interaction, using AI tools for preparation and summaries.
- Provide weekly pipeline health reports to leadership.
- Enroll the right families and ensure even declines feel like quality service.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Pursuing a seat-fill metric—declining a misaligned family is preferable to enrollment and departure.
- Being overruled on fit to preserve relationships or yield goals.
- Following scripts, executing call blitzes, or offering discount closes.
- Transferring families through multiple coordinators or awaiting committee decisions.
- Conducting amenity tours that avoid difficult questions.
Requirements
- 3+ years in a client-facing role where the buyer was an individual or family at $25,000+ per client or $2,000+ per month (B2C/D2C only).
- Personally owned a client, admissions, or enrollment journey from inquiry to decision.
- Managed 7+ client relationships simultaneously in a CRM or tracking system.
- Advised a prospective client not to buy/enroll due to poor fit.
- Used AI tools in client-facing workflows.
- Communicate concisely with executives, high-net-worth individuals, or demanding clients.
- Led polished in-person tours, presentations, or hosted experiences for affluent families or high-profile visitors.
- Developed multi-touch relationships over 30+ days with families not ready to enroll immediately.
- Owned measurable enrollment, revenue, or high-value customer-acquisition targets, including demand generation and local partnerships.
- Live in (or will relocate within 60 days to) an open campus market.
- Willing to work on-site daily at your campus.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Admissions/enrollment experience at a selective private, independent, or boarding school.
- Luxury residential real estate, private banking, family office, concierge medicine, or high-end event planning with families as buyers.
- Built enrollment processes or service standards from scratch.
- Existing relationships with affluent families, preschools, or advisors in one of the 12 markets.
- Owner-operator experience selling, delivering, and retaining high-value clients.
