About the Role
The Director of Marketing & Fan Experience is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing, fan engagement, and revenue generation initiatives that support the University of South Carolina Athletics Department. This position works to enhance the Gamecock Athletics brand, drive attendance and ticket sales, create meaningful community engagement opportunities, and develop innovative fan experiences that contribute to the department’s overall success.
The Director serves as the primary marketing contact for women’s basketball and provides strategic oversight of community outreach initiatives, assigned non-ticketed sports, and revenue-generating events. Additionally, this position supports departmental priorities related to fan development, attendance growth, community engagement, and revenue generation while cultivating relationships that enhance the visibility and impact of Gamecock Athletics throughout the state.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute marketing plans, attendance initiatives, and fan engagement programs.
- Plan and execute game presentation and promotional activities for athletic events.
- Supervise, mentor, or train interns or other project teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic event schedules.
- Collaborate with multimedia rights partners, ticket operations, communications, creative services, and external stakeholders.
- Support budget management, strategic planning, and departmental operations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing marketing plans, attendance initiatives, and fan engagement programs.
- Experience planning and executing game presentation and promotional activities for athletic events.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in marketing, sport management, communications, business administration, public relations, or a related field.
- Experience working in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics, preferably at the Power Four level.
- Experience with budget management, strategic planning, and departmental operations.
