About the role

Fairmont Orchid is an award-winning luxury resort located on the majestic Kohala Coast of Hawai‘i Island. The Director of Marketing and Communications leads the integrated marketing and communications strategy for the resort, shaping how it is shared, experienced, and understood in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the integrated marketing and communications strategy for Fairmont Orchid, enhancing brand equity, driving multi-million-dollar revenue growth, and positioning the resort as a global leader in luxury hospitality.

  • Steward community engagement and corporate social responsibility efforts, managing charitable giving, nonprofit partnerships, and local/global promotional initiatives to align philanthropy and brand purpose.

  • Cultivate and manage high-value relationships with destination partners, industry organizations, brand stakeholders, and media to expand market visibility, strategic partnerships, and brand opportunity.

  • Oversee monthly forecasting, accruals, and budget management across key Sales & Marketing general ledger accounts, ensuring financial accuracy, accountability, and alignment with business objectives.

  • Develop and execute integrated annual communications strategies that strengthen brand positioning, support revenue generation goals, and drive visibility across local, regional, national, and international markets.

  • Manage reputation and review response strategy across select guest review and feedback platforms to support guest satisfaction and brand perception.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operational departments to develop guest-facing communication materials that enhance the overall guest experience.

  • Provide strategic oversight of resort social media channels, including content planning, creative direction, brand alignment, audience growth, and performance analysis.

  • Develop annual marketing strategies, campaign plans, and budgets for Fairmont Orchid and its key outlets, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and revenue goals.

  • Provide strategic communications support, messaging development, and writing/editing assistance for executive leadership and key internal communication initiatives.

  • Advise on and develop content for internal communication channels to ensure consistent messaging, colleague engagement, and alignment with resort priorities and brand values.

  • Support emergency communications, health and safety messaging, and response protocols as part of the resort crisis response team.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to represent the resort and brand with professionalism and confidence.

  • Strategic, creative, and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment.

  • Strong understanding of integrated marketing, public relations, brand positioning, digital marketing, and crisis communications.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with media, influencers, industry partners, and community stakeholders.

  • Experience leading creative campaigns, storytelling initiatives, media relations, and high-profile partnerships.

  • Strong project management, administrative, and budget management skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with website, social media, and digital marketing platforms.

  • Appreciation for Hawaiian culture and a commitment to authentically promoting the destination of the Island of Hawai'i.

Pay

$110,000 - $133,000 USD

Schedule

Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including overnight, weekends and holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.
