About the role

The Director of Marketing is a strategic and execution-focused leader responsible for translating Westerra's business goals, brand platform, and growth priorities into integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies aligned with Westerra’s enterprise goals, brand platform, and Measurements of Success (MOS).
  • Lead marketing initiatives that support membership growth, loan growth, deposit growth, and Primary Financial Institution (PFI) behaviors.
  • Translate business priorities, market insights, and member behaviors into actionable marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Retail, Lending, Operations, Strategy, and Digital teams to drive alignment and execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness, member engagement, campaign performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead strategic change initiatives that strengthen marketing capabilities, processes, and organizational impact.
  • Oversee development and execution of integrated campaigns across digital, paid media, lifecycle marketing, retail, community, and internal channels.
  • Ensure consistent activation and stewardship of Westerra’s You Can Do Money brand platform across all member touchpoints.
  • Drive marketing strategies that deepen member relationships and position Westerra as a trusted financial partner.
  • Guide campaign optimization through performance analysis, testing, reporting, and continuous learning.
  • Support product launches, promotional campaigns, and strategic growth initiatives with clear go-to-market planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop marketing team members while fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, collaboration, and learning.
  • Provide clear prioritization and direction across marketing initiatives to ensure focus on high-impact work.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, media partners, and vendors.
  • Influence executive leaders and cross-functional teams through strategic communication, storytelling, and business insight.
  • Foster alignment between brand strategy, member experience, and operational execution.
  • Establish and manage marketing performance reporting tied to organizational MOS and campaign KPIs.
  • Oversee marketing planning processes, workflows, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with martech and analytics teams to improve attribution, campaign measurement, CRM integration, and member insights.
  • Ensure marketing programs are scalable, measurable, and aligned with enterprise priorities.
  • Support development of marketing governance, operational processes, and strategic planning frameworks.
  • Elevate Westerra’s brand narrative internally and externally through compelling storytelling and strategic communication.
  • Develop presentations, executive updates, reports, and campaign narratives that simplify complexity and demonstrate impact.
  • Cascade marketing priorities, wins, and insights across the organization to build visibility and alignment.
  • Help bring Westerra’s beliefs and culture framework to life through meaningful marketing experiences and communication.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, brand strategy, advertising, growth marketing, or integrated communications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, digital marketing, campaign management, lifecycle marketing, and performance measurement.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing executive stakeholders.
  • Financial services or highly regulated industry experience preferred.

  • Demonstrates learning agility, curiosity, and continuous improvement mindset.

Work Environment

Typically, a dispersed, flexible team environment both on Westerra campus (at least 2x/week) and remote. Employees must reside in Colorado or be willing to relocate prior to starting employment. Residency is required for payroll and state tax purposes.

Physical Requirements

Office environment: Works primarily at a desk.
Travel Requirements: Up to 15% travel within the Denver Metro area.
