About the Role

The Director of Marketing provides senior-level strategic leadership for all marketing, communications, brand, and customer experience functions at Lifeworks. This role holds enterprise-wide strategic decision-making authority for marketing strategy, brand governance, market positioning, public relations, advertising, customer lead generation, referrals, and integrated communications. The Director advances organizational visibility and engagement through a unified brand strategy, oversees organization-wide marketing and customer experience frameworks, and establishes robust systems for performance measurement—including KPIs, dashboards, and reporting models that inform executive decision-making. This role leads the Marketing team and manages external partners to ensure cohesive execution across all channels, strengthening the Lifeworks mission and driving sustainable, long-term growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise-level strategic direction and decision-making authority for all marketing, communications, brand, and customer experience initiatives.
  • Develop and implement multi-year marketing and customer experience strategies aligned with the Lifeworks Strategic Plan, mission, and service outcomes.
  • Define organizational positioning, value proposition, and competitive strategy; recommend market opportunities and growth paths.
  • Serve as a key leader, contributing to system-wide planning, strategic decisions, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Lead organization-wide brand governance, ensuring a cohesive identity, messaging, tone, creative expression, and storytelling across all departments.
  • Oversee strategic communications, public relations, crisis communications, executive messaging, and thought leadership.
  • Maintain consistent, high-quality communications across digital channels, advertising, print, content programs, and media engagement.
  • Provide strategic direction on advertising, campaigns, and paid media to increase awareness and drive engagement.
  • Direct the digital ecosystem, including website strategy, SEO, analytics, user experience, conversion pathways, and accessibility.
  • Lead the development of measurement frameworks, including KPIs, dashboards, and performance indicators that track customer experience, lead generation, referrals, and marketing ROI.
  • Oversee customer journey mapping, experience design, and referral pipeline strategy across all audiences and services.
  • Analyze market dynamics, audience insights, competitive positioning, and emerging trends; deliver strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Lead and develop the Marketing team through coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Manage contractors, agencies, and vendors to ensure strategic alignment and high-quality execution.
  • Lead budgeting and resource allocation to maximize return on investment and support organizational priorities.
  • Implement internal communication tools, messaging frameworks, brand training, and resources.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to support marketing integration, customer touchpoints, and organizational messaging.
  • Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, funders, community partners, and media outlets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, customer experience, or business development, including leadership roles.
  • Experience developing and implementing KPIs, dashboards, and measurement frameworks, and leveraging data for decision-making.
  • Strategic leadership, influence, and collaboration with senior executives.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and operational leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience working with underserved or underrepresented communities (preferred).
  • Nonprofit or human services sector experience (preferred).
  • Graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or MBA (preferred).

  • Successfully pass a background study with the Department of Human Services, complete a drug test, and maintain reliable transportation for work-related driving purposes.

Pay

$109,500-$120,000 (Bonus Eligible: Yearly)

Schedule

Full-time, 40+ hours/week, Monday – Friday (Exempt)
