About the Role
The Director of Marketing is focused on multi-channel marketing initiatives, partnerships, programming, and community engagement. A successful Director of Marketing is both guest and community-focused, revenue-minded, proactive, and self-driven. They operate with autonomy, collaborate effectively, and have proven experience in creating, launching, and driving brand awareness initiatives to conversion. This role requires both strategic thinking (setting goals, building relationships, leveraging data and trends) and tactical execution (optimizing campaigns, analyzing traffic, problem-solving).
Responsibilities
- Proactively create and manage quarterly property marketing goals, integrated strategies, plans, and calendars to expand brand awareness, drive community engagement, and increase room bookings.
- Create and execute a strong content and organic/paid social media strategy, including an editorial calendar for property websites, social channels, advertising, and email communications.
- Curate an event marketing strategy aligned with quarterly goals, combining local programming and strategic brand partnerships to increase engagement and brand affinity.
- Cultivate relationships with potential partners to create cultural value, market visibility, and acquire new audiences.
- Write and negotiate agreements with partners, including barter agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Work with F&B teams to drive traffic to property outlets through organic and paid channels.
- Leverage data to optimize touchpoints throughout the customer journey, supporting guest acquisition and loyalty.
- Collaborate with digital agency partners on performance marketing strategies, budgets, briefs, and creative.
- Manage property briefs for digital and physical marketing assets, ensuring messaging aligns with brand values.
- Lead on-site production for large event activations and recurring programming, coordinating with the events team.
- Manage the allotted marketing budget in collaboration with the property DOSM.
- Communicate quarterly marketing initiatives and programming calendars to Highgate Marketing and agency partners.
- Field media requests, coordinate on-property media tours, and photo shoots with the Highgate Marketing team.
- Create and maintain a roster of influencers, brand ambassadors, and content creators, identifying hosting opportunities based on quarterly goals.
- Provide monthly reporting on marketing plans, key campaigns, and KPIs to leadership and the broader organization.
- Manage website updates to ensure accuracy and create event pages for all programming initiatives.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in Marketing and Communications, with essential hospitality industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful marketing strategies for individual hotels, including ROI/KPI metrics.
- Strong presentation and communication skills; proficiency in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, etc.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., General Manager, Director of Sales, Director of Revenue, Regional Team, Media Representatives, PR firms).
- Strong creative mindset and ability to organize exclusive events.
- Knowledge of social media marketing and content creation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up.
- Warm and friendly demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations.
- Problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, and resolving issues.
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources.
