About the Role

This position oversees production management, ensuring a safe working environment, quality systems, lean manufacturing, and staff development. The role involves business development, operational efficiency, and compliance with organizational procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment, safety attitude, and execution.
  • Maintain all quality systems to prevent quality escapes from facilities.
  • Assist with business development and business proposals.
  • Accomplish lean manufacturing staffing results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring process steps, setting processing variables, observing personnel and equipment, implementing cost reductions, and developing reporting procedures.
  • Complete scheduling and assigning of personnel to achieve desired work results, establish priorities, monitor progress, resolve problems, and report results.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational procedures and policies.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by tracking periodic maintenance requirements (TPM), calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, recordkeeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing lean manufacturing changes.
  • Maintain a 5S safe and clean work environment by educating personnel on equipment use and compliance with policies.
  • Oversee the KIHOMAC Hazardous Waste Program, including disposal of hazardous waste, MSDS maintenance, and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
  • Identify capital expenditures for the 5-year plan and work with management for approval and implementation.
  • Execute personnel-related activities, including creating job descriptions, directing workload, managing employee relations, and conducting feedback sessions.
  • Advise management on employee recognition, including raises, promotions, and awards.
  • Manage accuracy of employee timecards and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Serve as a link between upper management and employees, disseminating company information.
  • Coordinate with Director and/or VP on corporate matters and participate in proposal writing and business development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in management or other relevant discipline (required).
  • 5+ years of experience in Production Management in a composite, machining, or metal fabrication facility or equivalent production experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen; ability to obtain a security clearance may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to assess, install, and modify equipment, and inspect machinery.
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements.
  • Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection).
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time.
