Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of all mechanical, structural, and operational aspects of the facility.
- Creation, upkeep, and execution of the Emergency Preparedness Plan.
- Recruitment, coaching, and inspiration of a skilled maintenance team; may also oversee housekeeping and/or laundry operations.
- Scheduling of staff, contractors, and service providers for timely, high-quality work.
- Regular inspections of buildings and grounds for safety, cleanliness, and compliance.
- Maintenance of critical systems such as plumbing, boilers, burners, heating, and hot water.
- Planning and overseeing electrical system upgrades and equipment installations.
- Ensuring full compliance with safety, sanitary, health, and fire codes, including NFPA 101 for healthcare facilities.
- Management of departmental budgets, from supply ordering to invoice approvals.

Qualifications
- Trade school graduate and/or licensed journeyman mechanic preferred.
- 5+ years of plant engineering or skilled trades experience.
- 3+ years of institutional housekeeping or laundry service management (if applicable).
- A strong track record of safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical maintenance practices.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
- Clear, confident communication skills and proficiency in English (written and verbal).
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Availability to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.
- Expertise in cost estimation, blueprint reading, and writing technical specifications.
