About the role
Oldcastle Fencing, Railing and Decking, a division of Oldcastle APG (a CRH company), is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Logistics to develop and manage a dynamic logistics strategy that includes inbound and outbound freight management, distribution network, and material handling systems across our national building materials footprint. This role has direct responsibility for all freight activity including HR, Safety, Operations, and the Morristown, TN distribution facility, with influence over quality and productivity in the shipping departments at all manufacturing facilities.
This is a hybrid opportunity located near our transportation office in Marlton, NJ or our distribution center in Morristown, TN.
Responsibilities
- Analyze all aspects of company logistics to determine and recommend the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies
- Establish logistics strategies for inbound and outbound freight needs, own vs leased equipment decisions, and 3rd party carrier selection
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, and work in concert with customer service to proactively manage deliveries and resolve damage or delay concerns
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers
- Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or cadence
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and legal authorities, including the DOT relative to our private company fleet, as well as company safety policies
- Negotiate transportation services and rates while owning carrier management processes including assessment, selection, and performance
- Establish specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems and build strategic goals for optimizing across the team
- Streamline and improve operations efficiency for parcel handling by implementing new technology around material movement and inventory management
- Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements
- Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation
- Plan and implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes
Requirements
- 10+ years' logistics/distribution multi-site management experience utilizing diverse modes of transportation, with experience leading and managing logistics teams in implementing best practices and processes
- Well versed in business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methodology, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques along with skills to maximize the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Knowledge of multi-channel distribution, ERP, and TMS systems with strong Excel skills
- Willing and able to travel up to 50% to company plants or regional offices
Pay
Base Salary is $160,000 - $200,000
