Job Summary

Career Services at the University of Mississippi is dedicated to helping law students find employment opportunities in various settings, including private law firms, public interest organizations, government, and business, both within Mississippi and nationally.

Job Description

Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised operational guidelines and procedures for career counseling and post-grad employment.

Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes career development unit objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan.

Serves as the institutional liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups to provide information on career services.

Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to understand employment needs and encourage recruitment of the institution's students.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintains strong relationships with students to provide guidance on career goals and planning.
• Educates students on employment opportunities within the legal community and leverages their legal education in broader work settings.
• Provides specific guidance on application materials, job search strategies, networking, interview skills, offer decision-making, and professionalism.
• Communicates with students using a student-led mindset and guides them through job search challenges.
• Oversees virtual and on-campus interviews (OCI).
• Develops and delivers engaging programs on various career topics to major stakeholders.
• Engages with legal employers, makes outreach efforts, and advises on hiring timelines and competitive offers.
• Collaborates with employers, alumni, and faculty/staff to plan and organize career programs and networking/mentoring opportunities.
• Gathers, audits, and reports annual post-graduate employment outcome data to relevant organizations.
• Works with law school administration on budget, purchases, and related contracts in accordance with university and state policy.

Preferred Qualification

A Juris Doctor (J.D.) is highly preferred.

Education Qualifications

Master's Degree (Required)

Relevant experience: 5 years, 3 years supervisory (Required)

Compensation

$68,681.60 - $103,001.60 (Effective 7/1/2026, Compensation Range: $75,546.00 - $113,318.00)
