Director of Laboratory Operations

About the role

The successful candidate will lead service delivery, business planning, financial performance, quality and accreditation outcomes, while driving innovation, continuous improvement and organisational change across a complex and high-performing pathology network.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across pathology services within the Alfred Care Group.
• Drive achievement of operational, financial, quality and workforce objectives.
• Lead business planning, service improvement and organisational change initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards including ISO15189 and NPAAC requirements.
• Develop and implement financial strategies to meet budgetary and performance targets.
• Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Lead, develop and support a multidisciplinary team including Principal Scientists, Senior Scientists and Quality Management staff.

Requirements

You will bring:

• A pathology scientific background with at least 10 years' experience and relevant postgraduate qualifications.
• Demonstrated success in a senior leadership role within a complex healthcare or pathology environment.
• Strong experience in operational, financial and workforce management.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and change management skills.
• A proven ability to drive service improvement, innovation and organisational performance.
• Sound judgement in managing complex clinical, operational and ethical issues.

Qualifications

You must have:

• An Australian qualification in a relevant science discipline.
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications.
• At least 10 years' experience in a senior leadership role within a complex healthcare or pathology environment.
