Director of Institutional Planning

About the Role

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources & Institutional Effectiveness. The primary purpose is to lead, facilitate, and coordinate institutional planning initiatives, including Strategic Planning, Process Improvement, and Accreditation. The role also assists with HLC criteria documentation and business continuity planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead, facilitate, and coordinate Kirkwood’s Strategic Planning Process, Process Improvement, Assurance Argument administration, and accreditation visits.
• Serve as the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) for the college.
• Communicate and inform College staff and faculty about institutional effectiveness initiatives, plans, and processes.
• Train faculty and staff on continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
• Develop Key Performance Indicators and measure accordingly to make data-driven decisions.
• Prepare quantitative reports and documents for reviewing short/long-range goals, objectives, and the evaluation of Institutional Planning initiatives.
• Supervise Institutional Planning staff.
• Hold initiative meetings across the College when necessary.
• Attend required conferences and meetings, and maintain professional and technical knowledge through professional development activities.
• Perform other related work duties as assigned.

Physical Activities

Position involves working in an office setting with the following frequency:

• Occasional (10-33%): Standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
• Frequent (34-66%): Reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.
• Constant (67-100%): Sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking, and hearing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least three years of experience working in higher education in Institutional Effectiveness or a related area.
• Experience collecting, reviewing, and using data to support planning and decision-making.
• Valid driver's license with continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Experience with strategic planning, accreditation, process improvement, and data analysis.
• Experience managing projects and working with different departments across the college.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using data and reports to identify trends and make recommendations.
• Prior supervisory experience.

Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with the opportunity to work one day a week remotely.
