Position Summary
The Director, Planning is responsible for end-to-end Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and transforming global demand and supply planning into a competitive advantage. This leader will drive ERP/MRP excellence and ensure rapid commercial growth never outpaces operational capability. This role demands someone who understands planning at the part-number level, can diagnose MRP logic flaws in real time, and can sit at the executive table translating operational constraints into financial impact.
Essential Functions
- Integrated Business Planning (IBP): Build and lead a disciplined, executive-level IBP process that connects commercial ambition to operational reality. Drive fact-based decision-making across Sales, Marketing, Finance, R&D, Manufacturing, and Procurement. Eliminate forecast bias, improve transparency, and hold stakeholders accountable to assumptions. Ensure there is never a structural disconnect between demand and supply.
- ERP/MRP Technical Excellence: Lead ERP/MRP implementation, parameter governance, and system optimization across a multi-plant global network. Establish best-in-class planning master data integrity (lead times, safety stock, lot sizes, capacity models). Drive automation, reporting standardization, and advanced analytics. Develop scalable planning architecture to support double-digit CAGR and acquisitions.
- Demand & Supply Performance: Improve forecast accuracy and reduce volatility through structured statistical and commercial processes. Maintain world-class service levels and drive global backorders to near-zero. Ensure NPI readiness and eliminate trade-offs between launch demand and base business continuity. Align planning outcomes directly to margin protection and revenue realization.
- Organizational Leadership: Build and upgrade global planning talent. Establish KPI rigor and transparent performance management. Drive accountability, urgency, and operational discipline throughout the organization. Lead through influence in a complex global environment.
Qualifications
- 12–15+ years of progressive supply chain leadership in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device strongly preferred)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to direct teams and manage multiple priorities
- Proven ERP/MRP implementation leadership (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) in multi-site environments
- Deep technical knowledge of MRP logic, capacity modeling, and inventory optimization
- Demonstrated success driving S&OP/IBP in high-growth environments
- Strong financial acumen and executive presence
- Strong in Excel and analytic reporting tools, including the Microsoft suite (Power BI)
- Ability to lead without direct authority in a collaborative environment
- APICS, CSCP, Lean/Six Sigma certifications preferred
- Database management experience preferred
- Thrives in high expectations, moves with urgency, and builds systems that scale
- Ability to travel
