About the role
The Town of Westborough Planning Board seeks candidates for the position of Director of Planning.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, develop, and implement short-, intermediate-, and long-term planning initiatives in accordance with policies set by the Planning Board, Town bylaws, and state laws.
- Inherit a portfolio of high-profile work, including:
- The Downtown Improvement Project, a redesign of the Main/Milk/South/Brigham Street rotary.
- The 495/Route 9 Gateway Initiative, a joint corridor effort with neighboring Southborough.
- A new Active Transportation Plan guiding walking and biking throughout the town.
- Recent downtown zoning reform that modernized the Downtown Business District, overlay districts, and all.
- An active pipeline of subdivision, site plan, and special permit reviews.
Requirements
- Financially strong with an AAA bond rating.
- A vibrant downtown.
- A supportive Planning Board.
- A talented staff.
- Only the usual amount of spirited public comment.
Qualifications
- Highly skilled administrative, supervisory, and technical work.
- Experience in planning initiatives.
- Knowledge of policies set by the Planning Board, Town bylaws, and state laws.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with planning and zoning processes.
Benefits
- Salary range: $101,896 to $132,695.
- The role is open until filled, with the search committee convening in late June.
