About the role
The Los Angeles, CA office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, seeks a Director of Information Governance.
Responsibilities
- Establish, lead, and continuously improve the Firm's enterprise-wide information governance strategy, policies, standards, and operations.
- Ensure the effective management, protection, retention, classification, accessibility, and disposition of the Firm's information assets throughout their lifecycle while supporting client service, regulatory compliance, risk management, cybersecurity, privacy, litigation readiness, and business objectives.
- Serve as a strategic leader and trusted advisor to Firm leadership, attorneys, risk management, information security, records management, eDiscovery, compliance, and technology teams.
- Maintain governance frameworks that protect confidential client information and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, regulatory, and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree in Information Management, Information Governance, Records Management, Business Administration, Law, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Information Governance, Records Management, Data Governance, Compliance, eDiscovery, Risk Management, or Legal Technology
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing governance or compliance programs
- Significant experience within a large law firm, professional services organization, or highly regulated industry
- Demonstrated success implementing enterprise governance frameworks and technology-enabled governance solutions
- Certifications related to Information Governance strongly Preferred: Information Governance Professional (IGP), Certified Records Manager (CRM), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Governance Officer (CIGO) or equivalent credential
