Position Summary
The Director of Independent and Assisted Living is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operations of the Independent Living and Assisted Living communities. This position ensures exceptional resident experiences, high-quality care and services, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, staff development, and occupancy growth. The Director works collaboratively with department leaders and the marketing team to enhance census, strengthen community partnerships, and support the organization’s mission.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Independent Living and Assisted Living operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Ensure a safe, welcoming, and resident-centered environment.
- Monitor resident satisfaction and address concerns in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with nursing and care teams to ensure individualized resident services.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor departmental budgets and resources.
- Analyze operational performance and implement improvement initiatives.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff members.
- Promote employee engagement, accountability, and professional development.
- Serve as a liaison between residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Support move-in and transition processes for new residents.
- Lead community events, resident programs, and family engagement activities.
Marketing and Census Development
- Partner with the marketing and sales team to develop strategies that increase occupancy in both Independent Living and Assisted Living communities.
- Monitor occupancy trends and establish action plans to achieve census goals.
- Participate in tours, community outreach, networking events, and referral development activities.
- Build relationships with hospitals, physicians, case managers, senior centers, and community organizations.
- Aid in developing marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives.
- Review market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Gerontology, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, assisted living, or residential services management.
- Knowledge of Independent Living and Assisted Living operations and regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with budgeting, financial management, and operational planning.
- Ability to build relationships with residents, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications
- Licensed Assisted Living Administrator
- CBRF certification/ training
- CPR and First Aid Certification
