About the role
We are seeking a scientific leader to drive portfolio strategy, product development, and innovation. This role partners with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to define and execute scientific strategies that align with organizational goals and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of innovative scientific portfolio strategies aligned with organizational objectives and customer needs.
- Partner with executive leadership and commercial stakeholders to define portfolio priorities, goals, and growth opportunities.
- Monitor portfolio performance and communicate progress, milestones, and strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Collaborate across research, commercial, and operational teams to ensure alignment of objectives and execution.
- Support commercialization efforts by providing scientific expertise and contributing to technical and marketing content.
- Identify new opportunities to expand scientific offerings and strengthen market position.
- Build and maintain relationships with academic researchers, industry experts, and strategic partners.
- Develop research concepts, scientific hypotheses, and experimental strategies to address emerging scientific questions and market needs.
- Lead the generation and interpretation of high-quality scientific data to support publications, product development, and innovation initiatives.
- Foster a culture of scientific rigor, continuous learning, and evidence-based decision making.
- Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance scientific and operational effectiveness.
- Stay current with scientific advancements and emerging technologies relevant to the organization's focus areas.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of scientific professionals, providing coaching, performance guidance, and career development support.
- Promote a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture.
- Empower team members through effective delegation, resource allocation, and professional growth opportunities.
- Manage departmental resources, budgets, timelines, and priorities to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide strategic scientific direction and oversight for research programs and portfolio initiatives.
- Support workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession planning efforts.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant scientific experience within academic, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related environments.
- 8+ years of people leadership and team management experience.
- Strong knowledge of immunology, translational research, disease biology, and biological assay interpretation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop scientific strategies, generate innovative research concepts, and design complex experimental approaches.
- Experience leveraging artificial intelligence and data-driven approaches to generate scientific insights and support decision making.
- Proven ability to translate scientific concepts into commercially relevant solutions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, research, or academic settings.
- Experience supporting scientific portfolio strategy, product development, or business planning initiatives.
- Demonstrated success working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.
- Strong track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- History of authoring scientific publications, presentations, or other technical communications.
- Experience engaging with external scientific advisors, key opinion leaders, and research collaborators.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $210,000.00 - $245,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent factors.
