Director - New Products & Business Development Analytics, Immunology
At Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, we are seeking a driven and dedicated Director - New Products & Business Development (NPBD) Analytics, Immunology to strengthen our Strategy, Insights and Analytics (SIA) team supporting the Immunology pipeline portfolio. This position can be based in Titusville, NJ or Horsham, PA, with hybrid attendance including in-office 3 days a week.
About the Role
Our Immunology team leads in the development of transformational medicines for immunological disorders and illnesses. You will influence where medicine is going by restoring health to millions of people living with immune diseases. The US NPBD team helps drive future growth for J&J Innovative Medicines by:
- Influencing strategy of late-stage internal assets
- Maximizing launch preparedness through insights
- Analyzing external assets for potential licensing or acquisition
- Providing a data-driven perspective on investment decisions that shape the future US portfolio
This role will provide strategic oversight of analytics, market research, and forecasting to support the Immunology new product portfolio. As a player-coach, you will lead and directly contribute to comprehensive business analytics for new products and business development assessments. This leadership role includes strategic oversight and guidance to one direct report.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee forecast modeling, secondary data analyses, and primary market research studies to evaluate business opportunities and support stage-gated investment decisions for new products.
- Develop and manage forecast models that are patient or prescription-based, including logic for multiple patient segments, indications, and lines of therapies.
- Develop assumptions considering current and future market dynamics using market research, secondary data analysis, analogs, and competitive intelligence.
- Evaluate sensitivities and scenarios, create presentations, and communicate results to senior management to gain alignment.
- Collaborate effectively with commercial partners such as Pricing, Market Access, Finance, Global, Inline SIA, and Marketing.
- Mine and analyze multiple data sources (e.g., claims data, epidemiology, lab values, prescription-level data) to deliver clear, concise customer and market insights.
- Lead and guide market research projects that inform investment decisions, uncovering insights across HCPs, patients, and payers to develop compelling recommendations for senior management.
- Partner with US and Global commercial leaders to gather, understand, and evaluate customer insights supporting internal and external assessments.
- Lead the development and evolution of LaunchEngagement.ai machine learning models in partnership with the Advanced Analytics team for Immunology pipeline assets.
- Assume leadership responsibilities within the broader NPBD team to drive key strategic priorities (e.g., Data Science, CoPilot, team culture).
- Act as a trusted advisor to the respective Therapeutic Area Lead and Directors in NPBD to ensure alignment on key strategies for new products and business opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is preferred.
- 10 years of relevant business experience in marketing, finance, business analytics, strategic planning, or management consulting.
- Demonstrated track record building forecast models and delivering forecasts with sound logic and full consideration of market dynamics.
- Proven analytical skills and learning agility to coach and train colleagues across multiple functions.
- Proficient knowledge and ability to analyze secondary data and integrate conclusions.
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative primary market research methodologies is strongly preferred.
- Ability to integrate and leverage insights and analytics to develop comprehensive, impactful recommendations and solutions that drive key decisions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to present evaluations to senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of healthcare (pharmaceutical or medical device) experience.
- Experience collaborating and leading in a matrix environment, including global organizations and operating companies.
- Expertise working across the product lifecycle, from pre-New Molecular Entity (NME) to post-launch.
- At least 2 years of people management experience, with a proven track record in talent development and empowering an accountable team.
- Diversity of experience with demonstrated learning agility to move across different types of markets.
- Deep understanding of Immunology treatment paradigms, patient flow, and competitive dynamics to shape forecasts and strategy.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, such as AI, through exploration, iteration, and applying new tools over time.
- Experience building team AI literacy and confidence, reinforcing trusted and responsible AI use and sound judgment.
Other Details
This position requires domestic travel of less than 10%, including local travel.
Pay
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $150,000.00 - $258,750.00.
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is also eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
