Director of Human Resources - Healthcare

Human Resources$140k–$150k/yrFull-time

About the role

A growing, privately-owned healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to join its leadership team. The company operates in the healthcare and life sciences space, with work touching areas such as specialty pharmacy, medical device, med/surg, and lab-based services, and is positioned for significant growth over the next five years. This is the top HR role in the company. The Director of HR will report directly to ownership and work side by side with the executive leadership team, building and owning the HR function rather than operating underneath a VP of HR, regional HR office, or corporate HR structure. The right person has already sat in that seat elsewhere: the final word on HR strategy, policy, and people decisions for their organization.

Responsibilities

  • Set the HR strategy for the company and make sure it lines up with where the business is headed, partnering directly with ownership on decisions that shape the organization's growth
  • Lead talent acquisition and retention, building the hiring engine and career paths needed to support rapid scaling
  • Own employee relations and engagement, creating a workplace culture that keeps pace with growth without losing what makes the company work
  • Manage compliance and risk across employment law, healthcare-specific regulations, and HR best practices
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and payroll, ensuring the total rewards package stays competitive as the company scales
  • Lead training and development programs that build bench strength at every level
  • Help shape the culture and organizational structure of a company that is actively defining what it wants to become over the next five years

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record as the top HR leader inside an organization, not reporting into a VP of HR, regional HR director, or corporate HR office
  • Full ownership experience across the HR function: strategy, compliance, talent, compensation, and culture
  • Healthcare, life sciences, pharmacy, medical device, or lab-based industry background strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification a plus
  • A polished, executive-level presence with strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort building infrastructure and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
