About the role

We're recruiting for a Director of Human Resources role with a great opportunity for someone looking to lead HR at a strategic, high-visibility level. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and offers broad scope—the Director will oversee HR functions across multiple entities spanning government operations, healthcare services, and hospitality/beverage enterprises, as directed by the Executive Leadership Team.

Pay

$133,000 - $150,000 per year

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management, or a related field plus 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience; or 15 years of progressive HR leadership experience in lieu of a degree
  • THRP certification, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Demonstrated experience managing HRIS system implementations
  • Solid understanding of compensation programs, benefits administration, training & development, and core HR processes/systems
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience in HR for a tribal entity preferred, though not required

Responsibilities

Leading HR Strategy

  • Partner with executive leadership on workforce planning, recruiting, retention, and succession strategy
  • Build and implement a comprehensive HR strategy across all operating entities, accounting for their operational differences
  • Advise executive leadership on HR trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Track and report HR metrics and dashboards to support data-driven decisions

Driving Talent Acquisition

  • Oversee all recruitment, including executive-level and physician/provider recruitment for clinic operations
  • Manage relationships and contracts with outside staffing partners, including temp staffing and locum services
  • Align staffing strategy with both immediate operational needs and long-term workforce planning

Owning Compensation & Benefits

  • Design and maintain competitive salary structures using market data
  • Analyze compensation/benefit trends and recommend competitive base and incentive programs
  • Partner with the Benefits Committee to manage cost-effective benefit plans and monitor the market for savings opportunities
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with benefit plan agreements and reporting requirements
  • Maintain required HIPAA certification

Managing Employee Relations & Performance

  • Lead employee relations efforts: performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and grievance resolution
  • Support directors and managers on discipline, terminations, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure corrective actions and terminations follow policy and legal requirements
  • Coach and counsel leaders to build accountability and strong management practices
  • Oversee the performance review process for fairness, equity, and compliance

Ensuring Compliance & Managing Risk

  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and handbooks; advise leadership accordingly
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, benefit agreements, and industry best practices
  • Work with legal counsel on employee relations, investigations, and compliance matters
  • Uphold confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and wage & hour law adherence
  • Represent the organization in personnel-related hearings and regulatory proceedings

Building Learning & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Design and oversee training/development programs supporting compliance, leadership growth, and succession planning
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development

Running HR Operations

  • Optimize and maintain HRIS systems to meet reporting and data needs
  • Prepare HR reports, analyses, and RFPs
  • Investigate workplace accidents and manage related Workers' Compensation reporting
  • Build and manage the annual HR operating budget
  • Lead, supervise, and schedule HR staff to ensure full operational coverage
  • Perform other duties as assigned
