About the role

Athena Health Care Systems is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the HR functions of our hospice/home health/private duty agencies in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. The position is based in Farmington and offers a salaried role up to $95,000 annually, with a 40-hour weekly schedule and weekday workdays. Travel to other offices may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs all daily human resources operations, including the establishment and implementation of human resource policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal human resources regulatory requirements.
  • Directs the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure consistent employee recruitment, selection, retention, hiring practices, orientation, and termination procedures.
  • Provides functional oversight and direction to assigned human resources personnel, including establishing priorities, delegating responsibilities, monitoring work performance, and supporting training and professional development.
  • Works with the management team to identify recruitment needs and develop a recruitment plan, evaluating the cost-effectiveness of recruitment efforts.
  • Assists the Executive Director in preparing the annual budget for the human resources department and monitors resource allocation according to budgetary limitations.
  • Collaborates on community awareness and recruitment activities, such as health fairs.
  • Supports managers with employee relations, coaching, corrective action, performance documentation, investigations, and policy interpretation, escalating complex or high-risk matters as necessary.
  • Maintains a comprehensive library of resources to support employee education and development.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all employee information and files.
  • Analyzes personnel satisfaction with benefits and work environment and reports findings according to organizational practices.
  • Makes recommendations regarding organization, personnel benefits package, and cost-effective plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, master’s degree preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in health care management, preferably in hospice care operations.
  • Two (2) years of experience in employee recruitment and training preferred, and employee and labor relations.
  • Knowledge of federal employment requirements and health care regulatory/accreditation requirements applicable to personnel practices.
  • Experience maintaining organizational licensure, provider enrollment, applications, renewals, regulatory reporting, or credentialing processes in a health care environment is strongly preferred.
