About the role

The Director of Hospitality with the Department of General Services leads high-level events and guest experiences at the Pennsylvania Governor Residence. This role offers a chance to shape meaningful public engagement while guiding hospitality operations with purpose and precision. You will help set the tone for exceptional service standards and smooth event coordination. Responsibilities

  • Event Leadership: Direct event planning and coordination to create smooth, high-quality experiences
  • Guest Standards: Maintain strong protocol expectations and uphold high customer service standards
  • Space Oversight: Manage scheduling and use of Residence areas to support operational priorities
  • Team Supervision: Guide hospitality staff and oversee front-of-house service operations
  • Operational Strategy: Develop event processes and tools that support consistency and improvement

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Administrative Officer 3 (Commonwealth title); or Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Additional Requirements: You must have a minimum of 7 years of experience leading hospitality, event management, or guest services operations in a corporate, government, nonprofit, or luxury hospitality environment. You must have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing large-scale, high-profile events involving executive leadership, government officials, or VIP stakeholders. You must have a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising and developing professional hospitality or event management staff, including performance management and team leadership. You must have a minimum of 3 years of experience managing event budgets, vendor contracts, procurement processes, and financial reporting while ensuring fiscal accountability. You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience using enterprise event management software (such as Cvent) to coordinate event registration, communications, guest management, reporting, and logistics.
  • Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
