Director of Fund Development
About the role
The Director of Fund Development will partner with the President/CEO to execute research for planned giving, prospective foundation and corporate funds, create a strategic fundraising plan, and identify mission-critical grants that support general operating, programs, and services for the AdHoc Group Against Crime.
The role provides strategic direction and leadership for AdHoc’s fundraising activities, including setting development goals, objectives, strategies, and writing key initiative grant opportunities. The Director plans, develops, and maintains a comprehensive private and public-sector fundraising events program aligned with AdHoc’s mission and programs, cultivates donor relationships, and compiles and tracks corporate, government, and foundation grants.
Responsibilities
- Identify grants that support current programs and services.
- Write letters of intent (LOIs) and grant applications; all submissions are reviewed by the President before submittal.
- Plan and execute the annual membership and annual fund campaigns, including campaign design, material procurement, mail and email outreach, and progress reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a donor database and ensure prompt acknowledgment of donations.
- Research donor prospects and maintain a donor prospect list.
- Plan and execute the organization’s annual benefit, including program design, host committee and ticket sales, invitation design, vendor recruitment and management, and donor follow-up.
- Assist with planning and executing other fundraising events and public programs, ensuring necessary follow-up after events.
- Support institutional and foundation fundraising efforts, including grant research and writing, maintaining a grants calendar, compiling reports, and preparing organizational documents for foundation submission.
- Compile donor lists for the annual report and participate in its creation as needed.
- Staff the Fund Development Committee, including developing agendas with the committee chair, providing staff support for initiatives, and preparing materials for committee meetings and assignments.
Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in development or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed with a strong ability to work well with a wide range of individuals and groups.
- Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising websites is highly desirable.
Schedule
Approximately 40 hours per week with some flexibility. Some evenings or weekends are required to attend AdHoc-sponsored events.
