Director of Fueling

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute fuel sourcing strategies for high-volume fuel consumption across multiple job sites.
  • Negotiate and manage large-scale fuel supply agreements with refiners, distributors, and third-party fueling providers.
  • Evaluate pricing structures including rack, index, and fixed price contracts.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to ensure supply security and competitive pricing.
  • Serve as the internal expert on fuel markets and commodity pricing.
  • Develop and manage hedging strategies to mitigate exposure to diesel price volatility.
  • Partner with finance and leadership on forward purchasing, swaps, or structured fuel contracts.
  • Provide regular market intelligence and pricing forecasts to leadership.
  • Oversee fueling operations across large construction or industrial sites.
  • Design fueling infrastructure strategies including bulk storage, mobile fueling, and third-party services.
  • Ensure reliable daily fuel delivery and distribution to heavy equipment fleets.
  • Establish standards for tank management, fuel quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build scalable fuel programs as new megasites come online.
  • Develop fuel usage forecasting and demand planning models.
  • Implement tracking and reporting systems for fuel consumption, costs, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational improvements.
  • Partner with equipment, construction, logistics, and finance teams to align fuel strategy with operational needs.
  • Support budgeting and long-term cost planning for fuel across projects.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during project planning and early site development.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in fuel procurement, fuel supply contracts, and fuel price hedging strategies.
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite, including Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and manage fueling systems for heavy equipment fleets and large-scale operations.
  • Strong understanding of fuel storage, compliance, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen related to fuel markets and pricing structures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across operations, procurement, and finance.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing fueling operations for large construction, industrial, mining, infrastructure, or energy job sites.
  • Proven experience managing high-volume fuel supply programs and fuel logistics at complex or multi-site operations.
  • Experience working directly for a fuel company, fuel distributor, or third-party on-site fueling services provider strongly preferred.
  • Experience negotiating large-volume supply agreements with fuel vendors and logistics providers.
