Director of Financial Aid Enrollment Support
Full-time, 12-month exempt position reporting to the College Director for Financial Aid.
About the role
The Director of Financial Aid Enrollment Support is a key member of the Financial Aid leadership team, responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and administering financial aid programs. This role manages assigned functional areas and oversees federal, state, institutional, and external financial aid programs in compliance with all applicable regulations. The Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student access, enrollment, and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring office operations, policies, procedures, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to federal, state, and college financial aid regulations.
- Participate in strategic planning and policy development to drive departmental goals and objectives.
- Establish performance goals and measures to evaluate success in assigned areas.
- Create financial aid operating manuals to standardize complex procedures and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage daily operations of the assigned team, including workflows and cross-team coordination.
- Facilitate staff training on new rules, regulations, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance and professional development.
- Provide personnel management, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation, coaching, and professional development.
- Coordinate financial aid operations with other institutional departments to support student enrollment and retention.
- Oversee staff and processes for awarding state, internal, and external scholarships.
- Manage internal and external customer service, including specialized support for elevated student inquiries.
- Align Financial Aid with Student Success teams to address student experience gaps.
- Support onboarding and ongoing knowledge development for front-facing staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including committee participation and attendance at college, community, and professional events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of professional experience in financial aid administration (preferably in higher education), with at least one year in a leadership position; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of current Department of Education Financial Aid Regulations, Title IV, and state aid programs.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills to assess performance, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strategic leadership and collaborative skills to build effective working relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with a student-centered approach.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field and five years of professional experience in financial aid administration (preferably in higher education), with at least three years in a leadership position; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficiency in financial aid management systems and software, preferably Colleague.
- Experience with database management, system analysis, and reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including delivering presentations and training.
- Ability to plan and direct large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service for students and families.
Pay
$50,000–$60,000 per year.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions. Requires extended periods of computer use or standing, occasional evening/weekend work, and potential exposure to inclement weather during travel. Physical demands include lifting light to moderate weights and repetitive hand movements for keyboard use.
