About the Role

Responsible for directing the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other financial information/analysis, including internal and external financial reports. Seeks support from all departments and services to maintain strong fiscal controls and provides overall fiduciary oversight and financial input into business and ministry unit decisions. Directs the identification and analysis of opportunities to improve financial performance across business units and ministries. Supports Health System and Hospital leadership with financial information requests, reports, and analysis on a timely and accurate basis. Provides daily supervision and staff development for direct reports while performing duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and financial reports for internal and external use.
  • Maintain strong fiscal controls and provide fiduciary oversight for business and ministry units.
  • Identify and analyze opportunities to improve financial performance across various business units.
  • Support leadership with financial information, reports, and analysis as needed.
  • Supervise and develop direct reports, ensuring alignment with organizational values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, including interaction with board-level individuals and senior executives.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of GAAP financial statement formats and disclosures.
  • Ability to handle and preserve confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA licensure.
  • Healthcare financial reporting experience.
