Overview
Multnomah County Health Department is seeking a Food & Nutrition Educator for the Chronic Disease Prevention Program. The position focuses on increasing access to nutritious food and enhancing public knowledge about healthy active living. Key responsibilities include collaborating with community partners, strengthening school wellness policies, conducting community food assessments, and implementing the county’s chain restaurant menu labeling policy.
To Qualify
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience involving the development and implementation of community health promotion initiatives and working with public, non-profit, and private sector stakeholders. Strongly prefer experience in policy development and facilitation of community planning processes as well as strong organizational, communication, and conflict management skills.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in nutrition, dietetics, health promotion, public administration, public policy, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
Required: The successful candidate will be a food and nutrition expert, as demonstrated by: 1) completion of accredited coursework in nutrition science and/or dietetics and 2) demonstrated proficiency in using nutrition analysis software tools.
