Director of Facilities Management, 2 Hour Learning - $200,000/year USD
About the role
You will maintain that standard throughout Central Texas: anchored in Austin as your primary location, with consistent travel to campuses regionwide. Your execution determines whether a facility maintains its premium quality or quietly deteriorates between leadership visits.
Responsibilities
Performing scheduled on-site inspections across Central Texas locations against established standards for cleanliness, HVAC systems, safety protocols, security measures, signage, landscaping, furnishings, and presentation-readiness — and converting inspection results into confirmed corrective actions
Managing facilities incidents and emergencies, coordinating service providers, and closing work orders only after confirming resolution (urgent items within 24 hours, standard items within 1 week)
Overseeing regional vendor performance relative to service agreements, removing consistently underperforming vendors, renegotiating contract terms, and conducting direct accountability discussions regarding quality and pricing
Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure consistent execution of standard procedures rather than ad hoc responses
Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC replacements, interior updates, landscaping work, AV/network installations) within timeline and budget parameters, minimizing student disruption
Documenting organization-wide standards and AI-supported procurement frameworks (utilizing ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized vendor sourcing) to ensure uniform campus launch and operation
Delivering clear weekly written reports covering regional quality metrics, vendor performance data, escalation items, and capital expenditure variance
Requirements
Located in or within commuting range of the Austin, TX metro area, prepared to work primarily from the Austin campus with 20–40% travel across the region
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
5+ years of experience managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality services, retail operations, or educational facility operations
Documented success managing vendor-delivered services for quality, cost control, and service level compliance across distributed locations
Consistent written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor communications, weekly regional performance reporting
Verified use of contemporary operations technology (ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance systems, AI-enabled procurement or operational planning)
Nice-to-have Requirements
Regional operations leadership experience in premium hospitality environments, luxury retail settings, private K–12 education, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
Experience building or rehabilitating a regional operational framework that previously depended on individual heroics instead of documented standards
History of vendor replacement and rebuilding local vendor networks following performance failures
Experience directing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV/network infrastructure, landscaping programs, interior renovations) in active, customer-facing facilities
Background operating in AI-enabled environments where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks, allowing personnel to focus on decision-making
