Director of Facilities

About the role

Responsible for the operations, budget and strategic planning for the Plant Operations and SMCVH Facilities to ensure the best patient care environments.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and manages activities and operations of the departments
• Reviews and evaluates existing programs, services, policies and procedures for departmental operations
• Maintains financial accountability for departments as assigned
• Makes sure key performance improvement activities are done (e.g., goals, key indicators, data collection, and effectiveness of process change)
• Facilitates facility capital project administration and management
• Oversees the functioning of building systems and maintenance
• Oversees grounds maintenance and landscaping
• Integrates infection prevention and control guidelines and standards within design and construction plans and environmental hygiene operations, including waste management and laundry
• Provides guidance, training, coaching and mentoring to staff
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for assigned departments
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for assigned departments
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for assigned departments
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies (DMS, DNV, Joint Commission, OSHA.)
• Proactively works towards achieving the facility goals and objectives
• Coordinates activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5-7 years' leadership in hospital engineering maintenance or facilities
• PREFERRED: Demonstrated quality leadership in meeting performance plans
• Working knowledge of DNV, NFPA, OSHA and other related regulations
• Joint Position, Full time, 40 hours per week

Qualifications

Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.

Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times.

Follows HIPAA regulations and policies

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

Communicate with patients, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.
