About the role

We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Facilities Director to lead the teams and operations responsible for keeping our programs safe, secure, clean, functional, and ready to serve children, youth, and families every day.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support Maintenance, Housekeeping/Laundry, Security, and Food Service staff.
  • Oversee the daily planning, assignment, direction, evaluation, training, and general supervision of department employees.
  • Participate in hiring, employment decisions, performance evaluations, orientation, and staff development.
  • Establish clear expectations and ensure staff follow organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Support teams in responding to changing facility priorities and operational needs.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and coordinate after-hours response to facility emergencies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operation of CHOR facilities and buildings.
  • Ensure buildings remain safe, clean, functional, and in good repair.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs.
  • Oversee repairs, equipment maintenance, furniture and equipment moves, and general building needs.
  • Monitor heating, ventilation, and other building systems to help maintain appropriate environments.
  • Oversee security-related equipment, including cameras, monitors, motion detectors, and delayed egress equipment.
  • Coordinate telephone, cellular, pager, network equipment, and other facility-related technology needs.
  • Supervise the upkeep of lawns, landscaping, trees, grounds, parking areas, walkways, and roadways.
  • Coordinate snow and ice removal and other seasonal facility needs.
  • Manage and coordinate facility construction, renovation, and improvement projects.
  • Participate in the design and planning process for new building acquisitions, purchases, and leases.
  • Coordinate with contractors and outside service providers.
  • Evaluate contractor work for quality, cost, and overall value.
  • Help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Participate in on-site inspections with Labor & Industry, environmental, insurance, regulatory, licensing, and other inspectors.
  • Help ensure facilities comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in required staff trainings and meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable safety practices and procedures.
  • Support organizational requirements related to confidentiality, security, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety.
  • Develop and manage budgets for Maintenance, Housekeeping/Laundry, Security, and Food Service.
  • Manage facility and utility portions of established program budgets.
  • Monitor facility-related expenses and approve invoices as appropriate.
  • Ensure purchases and expenditures follow established budget and purchase order procedures.
  • Evaluate cost/value factors when selecting vendors, contractors, equipment, and services.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and service of organizational vehicles.
  • Schedule maintenance vehicles for routine service and inspections.
  • Coordinate motor pool operations.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory and distribution of facility supplies.
  • Coordinate the purchase and distribution of supplies to various departments.
  • Assist with coordinating donation pickups and other facility-related transportation needs.
  • Coordinate maintenance staff availability to respond to facility emergencies outside of normal business hours.
  • Adjust maintenance and facility priorities as operational needs change.
  • Coordinate facility needs for special events, including setup, cleanup, and rental items.
  • Work collaboratively with program and administrative leadership to address urgent and ongoing facility needs.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Property Committee of the Board.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other departments to identify facility needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support and demonstrate proficiency in the CHOR Model of Care and Sanctuary Model.
  • Participate in organizational initiatives that promote safety, teamwork, communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with related vocational training and/or a variety of maintenance or facilities-related experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to meet applicable Pennsylvania Child Protective Services requirements.
  • Ability to meet employment eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing facilities operations across multiple buildings or locations.
  • Experience supervising maintenance, housekeeping, security, food service, or other operational teams.
  • Experience managing facilities-related budgets.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and outside service providers.
  • Experience with construction, renovations, building acquisitions, or capital improvement projects.
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as human services, healthcare, education, residential services, or similar settings.
