Job Summary

The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and performance of EVS and Linen operations across a 683,000 sq. ft. acute care hospital with an average daily census of 250 patients. This is a visible leadership role within a complex, fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate is a current EVS Director in a hospital setting who thrives in challenging accounts and has a proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and partner effectively with hospital leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all EVS and Linen Distribution operations, overseeing 55+ frontline FTEs
  • Directly manage a leadership team of 2 Assistant Directors and 2 Operations Managers
  • Ensure the department maintains an “inspection-ready” state in compliance with all regulatory standards (federal, state, local)
  • Develop, manage, and maintain the departmental budget and monitor all expenditures
  • Drive operational excellence, patient satisfaction, and service quality across the facility
  • Collaborate closely with hospital administration and clinical departments
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and performance standards
  • Promote team engagement, development, and accountability across all levels
  • Ensure proper stewardship of client assets, supplies, and financial resources

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of current experience as an EVS Director in an acute care hospital
  • Proven success managing EVS operations in a complex healthcare environment
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and interpreting performance data
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing salaried managers and large frontline teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • CHESP certification (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with regulatory surveys and compliance standards
  • Contract-managed services experience
