Director of Engineering
Job Overview
The Town Club Director of Engineering reports to the Assistant Town Club Manager and is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, functionality, and efficiency of all building systems and facilities within the Town Club. This role ensures exceptional guest and member experiences by maintaining high operational standards across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, and preventative maintenance programs.
About the Role
This role oversees daily operations of all engineering and maintenance functions, maintains HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen equipment, pools, elevators, boilers, generators, and other facility systems. It also implements and manages preventative maintenance programs, responds promptly to facility emergencies and operational issues, and ensures guest rooms, public spaces, restaurants, spas, and back-of-house areas remain in excellent condition.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate engineering and maintenance staff.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and technical training sessions.
- Manage schedules and emergency response coverage.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire/life safety codes, local building regulations, and environmental standards.
- Maintain records for inspections, permits, certifications, and equipment maintenance.
- Lead safety drills and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Coordinate with local authorities and inspectors as needed.
- Aid in the oversight of the departmental budget.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Control inventory and purchasing of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Obtain bids and manage outside contractors and service vendors.
- Assist in planning and execution of renovation and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate project timelines to minimize disruption to guests and members.
- Review project specifications, contractor work, and quality standards.
- Support luxury hospitality standards and member satisfaction goals.
- Collaborate with operations, housekeeping, food & beverage, and events teams to support club activities and guest functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of engineering or facilities management experience in hospitality, hotels, resorts, or private clubs.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
- Experience with preventative maintenance software and work order systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospitality or luxury property experience preferred.
- EPA Certification, HVAC Certification, or trade licenses preferred.
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar certification is a plus.
- Experience managing union staff preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk the property extensively and climb stairs/ladders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to mechanical rooms, outdoor environments, and varying temperatures.

Salary Range: $110,000/year - $125,000/year
