Director of Employment and Transition Services

About the role

Lifesteps is seeking an Employment Services and Transition Director to oversee the Employment Services Program for Special Needs Individuals. The Director ensures clients receive high quality training in vocational, daily living, and social skills to prepare for competitive employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, operate, and supervise the Employment Services Program
• Ensure clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities receive vocational, daily living, and social skills training
• Aid individuals in choosing vocational goals, securing employment, and maintaining employment
• Assist with workplace accommodations as needed
• Promote a positive work environment
• Oversight of staff and job coaches in the program
• Create documentation and reports for OVR, ODP, and management staff

Requirements

• Associates Degree or equivalent credits (60) and 6 years of experience working directly with adults with disabilities and 4 years of supervisory experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience working with adults with disabilities and at least 2 years supervisory experience
• Master’s Degree and 1-year experience working directly with adults with disabilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel for business using personal vehicle
• Previous experience in a specific area of instruction such as adult training, vocational rehabilitation, or special education (preferred)
• ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators) certification in employment services (preferred)
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 200 pounds with assistance and 40 pounds without assistance
• Ability to obtain acceptable clearances

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working directly with adults with disabilities
• Experience in a supervisory capacity

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of employment services and transition programs
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm
